ShiftPlate Connector

A small Windows agent that runs on the PC hosting your Agora POS and sends its sales to ShiftPlate. It only makes outbound connections, so nothing on your network has to be opened up.

Before you start

  • The Windows PC that runs Agora POS. Install it there, not on a manager's laptop.
  • Administrator rights on that PC — the installer registers a background task.
  • The Agora POS username and password that PC already uses.
  • A pairing code from ShiftPlate. Ask us for one; it is valid for 10 minutes.

Installing

  1. Run the installer

    Double-click the downloaded file on the POS PC and accept the Windows administrator prompt.

  2. Enter your details

    Paste the pairing code, then the Agora POS username and password. Leave the two addresses at their defaults.

  3. That is it

    The installer checks the POS login, links the PC to your venue and starts the background task. Sales start appearing in ShiftPlate within a few minutes.

If Windows warns you

Windows may show a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen because this build is not yet signed by a certified publisher. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

What it actually does

Every 5 minutes it reads the sales reports from Agora on the PC itself and posts them to ShiftPlate over ordinary HTTPS. It never accepts incoming connections, never changes anything in the POS, and keeps working when the internet drops — it catches up on the next cycle.

Security

  • Outbound only. No port forwarding, no fixed IP, no inbound exposure of the POS.
  • Read only. It fetches reports; it cannot create, edit or void anything in Agora.
  • The POS password stays on the PC, encrypted with Windows DPAPI. It is never sent to us.
  • A download on its own does nothing. The PC only reaches your data after it is paired with a code we issue, and we can revoke that instantly.
